Cognitive hypnotherapy is the process you will be going through to move away from your problem, enabling you to reach the solution you want to reach. Cognitive hypnotherapy works with the premise that we are going in and out of trance all the time. Whether it is feeling anxious as you go to work, reaching for another biscuit or screaming as you notice a spider crawling along the floor – these are all trances. My job is to stop these trances that are creating your issue, resulting in freedom for you. It’s the difference that makes the difference.
The first session is spent talking. I will ask a series of questions to get to understand how your issue is experienced by you and how it affects your life. Everyone experiences their problem uniquely. For example, if I have 5 clients with anxiety, all 5 will experience and perceive it differently. So my aim is to understand how you do your problem and how you want it to be instead. This is the foundation of what we do afterwards.
Then the work begins!
Each session develops organically, depending on what we are dealing with and what changes you have experienced during the sessions and between the visits. I use a variety of ways to enable you to release what is holding you back. With a series of questions, you can access the time that the underlying cause to your problem became embedded. Without getting immersed in any past emotions, we re-frame this for you, by you connecting to all that you know now and passing that knowledge to the younger you. Quite often, the issue can seem quite insignificant to the adult you – because what is important to a child often seems irrelevant as an adult. This alone can release many problems with grace and ease. If the emotion is of a more serious nature, I assure you that you will be looked after very gently and go through a process to release the hold that emotion may still be having on you today. The result can be astonishing.
I have many tools that are used as and when needed. Sometimes we will just be talking. During that time I will be asking questions, developed by neuroscience, to enable shifts to occur within you. Together we will then be working out what is the direction for you to take. The questions hold the answer. What makes cognitive hypnotherapy to be so excellent is the fluidity in the questions and the use of techniques that create the tailor-made approach. The results can be amazingly fast. All that is needed from you is a desire for change and responding to the questions asked.
Each session is finished with a relaxation time, where you listen to the words I am saying. These are carefully formulated specifically for you and what it is that you want to achieve. This increases the permanence of the change.
Our time together is like walking down a winding path with many forks in it. Together, we work out the right path for you to follow, giving you the confidence to know you can eventually walk it without me.
